Ian Magnuson has been shooting since his 7th grade school year
and receiving awards for his work. He shows an amazing creative
talent capturing subjects with an eye rarely seen from a student so
young. Ian is "focused" on finding a unique and interesting way to
portray his assignment with imagination either digitally or on film.

Ian is currently the associate concertmaster for both the Prospect Chamber Orchestra and
Symphony Orchestra, noted for writing a concerto in 10th grade "Two Violins and Cello" and
performing if for solo and ensemble competition receiving a ( 1 ). Rates of 1 and 1+ being the very
best. Also recognized as one of the members invited to play the New Years Eve Gala concert in
London England 2013, and also participated in the District 214 Honors Orchestra in 2011-2012.
Ian is the visual editor; head photographer and graphic designer for his school newspaper and has
been the main photographer since freshmen year. Find them on line here ProspectorNow.com . He
is also a deciding member of the Executive Board of the newspaper. Ian has his own equipment and
shoots digital NIKON, but favors Minolta for his 35mm B&W film camera. Ian also develops and
prints his own B&W. Along with a B average grade point average, he is attending the New York
Institute of Photography and plans to earn his certificate in professional commercial photography
before attending college. Ian is planning to attend Augustana College, Rock Island Illinois in the fall.
Ian is a talented wedding photographer and table top product photographer. Samples of his work

First place in the photography category IJEA 2012, Recipient of the 2011 Illinois Women's Press
Association award for his photograph "Hero Welcomed Home", he placed 5th his sophomore year in
the National Journal Sections and received the Excellence in Journalism honorable mention 2011
Northern Illinois Press Association.
